Why We Chose the Cardano Blockchain — And Why It Matters for You

We’ll be honest — blockchain wasn’t the starting point for feeling.gift. The emotion was. The art was. The gifting idea was.

The blockchain came in when we asked a simple question: how do we make digital ownership actually mean something?

A digital image on its own can be copied, shared, screenshotted. That’s fine for wallpapers. But if we’re selling you something limited — a single Legendary edition of Grief, or one of only 50 copies of Courage — you need to be able to trust that the scarcity is real. That your ownership is real. That nobody can quietly print more.

That’s what the blockchain solves. It’s essentially a public record that can’t be faked.

So why Cardano specifically, and not Ethereum or something more famous?

A few honest reasons. The transaction fees on Cardano are a fraction of what Ethereum charges — which matters when we want gifting to feel generous, not expensive. The network is also built with long-term sustainability in mind, which aligns with how we think about feeling.gift as a project. And practically speaking, the tools available — particularly NMKR.io for minting — make it genuinely accessible to build on.

We’re not blockchain evangelists. We don’t think the technology is magic. But for what we needed — provable scarcity, real ownership, low friction for buyers — Cardano was the right fit.

And if you’ve never touched crypto in your life? That’s completely fine. We’ve built the experience so you don’t have to.

More on that in the next post.
